Tamworth Country Music Festival

Posted by Farmer Dave in Travel

Farmer Dave

I had the best time ever at Tamworth Country Music Festival....FYI....Country Music Stars are Younger, Browner, Blonder and Hotter than most things in a FHM Magzine...and boy can they sing like Angels,

Unfortunately I didnt take David Woodwards hospitality up till the last days of TCMF and am regretting it as it is the best Music Festival and party town on the planet!!

Posted by Farmer Dave in Travel

Farmer Dave

Got off the plane from Aurukun decided to go into Cairns for a Few Beers before getting on a plane South....after sinking just one and feeling tipsy....Saw a ridiculously hot guy at a Dive shop...next thing I know I'm on a Week Long Dive Certification Trip.

I'm in love with Scuba.....now 3 days out on the outer Reef ... if  I get left there or eaten by a shark or poked by a sting ray.. Tell My Mum I love her and can some one feed my sheep dogs

I survived the Outer Reef, got Stung By Jelly Fish, got left behind during the Adventure Certification, Made it to 30metres, made a heap of ace mates and Found Nemo!!!!! and his cousins, and aunts and brothers.....

Native Bees, Bush Tucker and a Cape York Education

Posted by Farmer Dave in Travel

Farmer Dave

Each spare hour I have up in the Cape is spent listening to the elders stories and learning all I can about Bush life and Community Living.

Today was a journey into the bush to find Milk Wood for Carvings. I took a turn at smashin the Milk Wood... its aptly named as milk poured out and splashed all over me with each swing.

Next was looking for a Native Honey Tree, the main thing we were after was the wax for fire stick holders and spears. After finding a suitable tree, the easiest way to get bush honey... give the axe to the white guy.
The native bees may not sting but having thousands burrow into your hair is just as bad...

The whole hollow log was a hive with the nursery and pollen at the bottom and the very sugary honey at the top.

Farmer Dave

To engage the kids the Aurukun Partnerships Programme put on discos on Fridays and more often on the holidays...they are great, the whole family gets into it..with the favourite tracks lyrics being 'step aside M*&^er F#$^er' and the girls as young as 2 Byonce dancing it was hard to get used to...
